Well, the time approaches for our Canadian Tuxedo release. It's coming in just over a month - July 8th, to be exact! Look for the CD and the LP in your favorite local record store, online at zunior.com, on iTunes, or even in bigger stores like HMV here in Canada. We're very excited that the record will finally be available. We recorded it a few months ago, and we've been dying for everyone else to hear it.
Kamloops, BC! Who knew it would be such a fun place to play? We were there recently, passing through on our way to Calgary and Edmonton, AB. It was a Thursday night, but the kids came out and they were seriously the most enthusiastic crowd we've ever played to! Thanks, Kamloops! We're coming back July 18th, just because we miss you.
This past week we had the opportunity to participate in CBC Radio 3's Sessions, an in-studio live show and interview. We spent some time at the CBC studios here in Vancouver, playing six songs and being interviewed by Tariq. This Sessions session will be available via podcast sometime after our album comes out in July. Go to iTunes and download it! There's lots of tasty tidbits about some of the songs on Canadian Tuxedo, and Cc and Eden spent some time with Tariq, answering all his questions about the band and the music. We were very pleased with how it came out - we hope you enjoy it too.
We here in Vancougar land have been busy planning our upcoming album release. There's only a few months to go before Canadian Tuxedo will be unleashed upon the world. For a sneak peak, check out our first single, "Obvious" here. While you're there you can also hear "Distance," the b-side to our first 7" on Mint Records.
We recently had the chance to play Victoria and Nanaimo, two small hamlets on Vancouver Island. Both shows were awesome. How is it that people on the island are so NICE? Next up is a mini tour to Kamloops, BC and Calgary and Edmonton, AB. We've never played in Alberta. We're looking forward to it.
There are more touring plans in the works, and we hope to be hitting the road in October for a month-long jaunt across Canada and the U.S. Keep your ear to the ground for shows in your locale.
This past Tuesday, our first release on Mint Records, a 7" colour vinyl record with two songs from our upcoming Canadian Tuxedo album, came out. Last night we played the release show and saw the little guys for the first time! They are beautiful. The vinyl is spackled green, and is so pretty. Order the 7" at your local record store. We've already shipped some off to the UK, where a good number were pre-ordered, and they should be available at any decent record store in your town.
Only three more weeks until SXSW 2008! We're very excited here in Vancougarville. We've got three shows lined up for our five days in Austin, and when not rocking out at them we plan to be lounging in the pool at our swanky hotel and enoying the fact that we are no longer sufferring the constant grey drizzle that is winter in Vancouver, and then seeing every other band that we've ever known and loved rock out for us! We hope to meet you there.
That's right, folks, we've been accepted to South By Southwest, the legendary music conference and festival that takes place annually in Austin, Texas. March 12 through 16, 2008, hundreds of bands will descend upon Austin to rock out all day, everyday! Vancougar is thrilled to be going. What are you doing? Get online and get yourself a ticket! We are getting closer to our first release on Mint Records, a 7" of two soon-to-be hit songs! Side A will contain "Obvious," a catchy little number about love. Never one to complicate matters unneccessarily, Eden has kept the lyrics to this song down to one line. This makes it easier than ever for songs to sing along at shows! Side B will contain "Distance," a rocking ditty about missed opportunities and the perspective that time can bring to certain eras in one's life. I know, heavy. Don't worry, if you don't listen to the words, it's just another up-tempo, catchy Vancougar song!
Our second album, Canadian Tuxedo, will be released on Mint Records in July of 2008! Because this seems so far away, and we hate to leave our fans in the lurch for so long, we will be releasing our first single in 7" format in February. The single, "Obvious" is a love song and so we're releasing it just in time for Valentines Day. We will be playing a release show for this, our first release on Mint, at the Railway club here in Vancouver. So bring your sweetheart and come out and get your copy!
The holiday season is upon us. Vancougar will be celebrating with our own special party that we call A Very Vancougar Christmas. It's basically just the four of us sitting getting drunk and playing our songs sing-along style with an acoustic guitar and a tambourine. We will also be playing The Mint Records Just in Time for Xmas Party!!, so if you live in Vancouver, Victoria or Nanaimo, be sure to stop by and rock out with us and other bands in the Mint family.
Exciting news in the world of Vancougar! We have signed to Mint Records, a fabulous independent record label out of our hometown of Vancouver, BC. We are very excited to be joining the Mint family! We are currently recording our sophomore album, Canadian Tuxedo, which will be released in early 2008. Much like Losin' It!, Canadian Tuxedo will consist of 10 catchy, riff-tastic and driving original tracks with which you will soon be singing along! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us on our first Eastern/Southern U.S. tour in June. We had a wild and wonderful 15 days on the road with the Goodnight Loving, our brother band. We hope to tour Canada in the upcoming year and make another trip down South as well.
